Working with Buoyant, we turned Corewell Health’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Report into a 2D animated film. Buoyant provided the script, and we took it from there: art direction, illustration, character design and animation. The report is dense with frameworks, programmes and statistics, and the challenge was making all of it easy to follow in under four minutes.

The visual language is built around the health system’s own model of change, four rings that run from the individual to organisational policies, community conditions and social structures. The film returns to it throughout, so the viewer always knows where they are. From there it moves through the foundations of Corewell’s equity strategy and into real programmes: more than 8,000 visits supporting pregnant people and infants, and 17 school-based clinics offering no-cost care to over 3,000 patients.

Instead of putting charts on screen, we gave the numbers to characters. A new mother and a school student appear again and again, linking each statistic to a person and a place in Michigan. The illustration style and palette were built from Corewell’s brand, so the film sits naturally alongside the report it promotes.
